Edmund Groff Lorenz, 92, died Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Western Plains Medical Complex at Dodge City, KS. He was born on November 6, 1918 at Cincinnati, OH the son of Edward and Dorothy (Groff) Lorenz.
He was a retired geologist, having worked for Shell Oil Company and then later starting his own geological consulting business.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dodge City and was a member of the 32nd degree Masons, Rotary,Optimist Club and the Dodge City Senior Center.
Survivors include a daughter Dorothy Lorenz of Chesapeake, Virginia, one son Martin Lorenz of Windermere, Florida, three sisters Mary Dalton of Bennington, Vermont,Florence Lorenz of Yellow Springs, Ohio, and Lucy Reddell of Dodge City, Kansas. He was also survived by one brother William Lorenz of St. Louis, Missouri, and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in up state New York. Memorials can be made to the Doge City Senior Center or the First Presbyterian Church of Dodge City in care of the funeral home.
