Edward Robert Dorner, Sr., 86, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025 at the Kansas Soldiers Home in Fort Dodge, Kansas.

He was the husband of the late Margaret (Stewart) Dorner who died on January 23, 2018. Born April 5, 1939 in Northampton, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Stephen and Mary (Paukovits) Dorner.

Edward joined the military in 1960 and spent most of his 25 year military career in the Air Force.  After retirement from the military, he worked for more than 10 years for the Wichita Falls State Hospital.  He continued to work with adults with intellectual disabilities at a group home in Wichita Falls for several years after retiring from the State Hospital.

Survivors include his children, Edward Jr. and long-term partner Terri Roberts of Wichita Falls, Texas, Kerri and husband Jason Vajnar of Plains, Kansas; grandchildren, Alex Dorner of Wichita Falls, Texas, Iain Dorner of Wichita Falls, Texas, Owen Vajnar of Plains, Kansas, and Lucy Vajnar of Plains, Kansas. His sisters, Elizabeth Soltis, and Hermina Dorner,  his brother William and wife Brenda, and many nieces and nephews.  Edward was predeceased by his brothers Michael, Stephen, Joseph, Frank, John and Julius, his sisters, Mary, Theresa, Rose, Helen and Anna.

The family will be holding a private graveside service at a later date.
