Ft. Dodge - Edward J Gibbons Jr., 87, died January 14, 2013 at Ft. Dodge, Kansas. He was born on January 3, 1926 at Topeka, KS the son of Edward J. and Alice E. (Miller) Gibbons .

He married Iris McKinley on June 14, 1948 at Dodge City. He later married Patricia Head on June 28, 1974, she preceded him in death on July 18, 2000. Mr. Gibbons enjoyed golfing, crossword puzzles, and watching western movies. He was captain of every sports team he played on.

He was a member of the of the Cathedral Of Our Lady Of Guadalupe, and Howard Gotschall V.F.W. Post #1714.

Mr. Gibbons is survived by two daughters Mary Killian of Dodge City; Tina Agur and husband Roger of Dodge City; two sons Ned Gibbons and wife Avis of Ulysses; Marty Gibbons and wife Kim of Ulysses and one step daughter Kelly Head of Dodge City. He is also survived by his grandchildren Erin Killian, Sarah Randall and husband Steve, Jim and Lynsi Killian, Ryon and Mellissa McKivergan, Amanda McKivergan, Katie McKivergan Ian Gibbons, Kris and Ashley Gibbons, Miles Gibbons, Tyler and Sheila Head, Zach and Andrea Head, as well as sixteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one granddaughter Clara Gibbons.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial with full military rites by Howard Gotschall V.F.W. Post #1714 will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Ft. Dodge or Hospice of The Prairie in care of the funeral home.
