Dodge City - Edward P. Martinez, 64, died January 21, 2013 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City . He was born on October 10, 1948 at Abilene, Texas the son of Leo and Dora (Roman) Martinez.
He loved working on cars and riding motorcycles and spending time with friends in his spare time. Edward was a avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, American G.I Forum and a bike club all of Dodge City.
He is survived by two daughters Lori Bailes; Trella Martinez both of Dodge City, two sons Shawn Carmona of Dodge City; Josh Baker of Omaha, Nebraska. He is also survived by seven sisters Elivra Martinez of Dodge City; Marion Asebedo of Dodge City; Debbie Goolsby of Olathe, Kansas; Nora Guerrero of Garden City; Annette Lopez of Dodge City; JoAnna Marin of Olathe, Kansas; Jessica Roets of Hutchinson, Kansas; and one brother Johnny Martinez of Dodge City. He is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial with full military honors by Howard Gotschall VFW Post #1714 will follow at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in Ft. Dodge . A Vigil service will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Edward Martinez Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
