Obituary

Dodge City - Edward S. Phillips, 80, passed away with his family by his side on January 29, 2025 at St. Catherine Hospital of Dodge City.  He was born on December 28, 1944 at Dodge City, the son of Cleo and Anna Loraine (Dunn) Phillips

Ed was a lifelong resident of Dodge City and a graduate of Dodge City High School. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a supply specialist at Ft. Dix in New Jersey. On December 31, 1982 he married Twilla Beck in Dodge City. Ed was a truck mechanic for Kindsvater Trucking of Dodge City for many years. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather and enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

Edward is survived by his wife of 42 years, Twilla Phillips of Dodge City; two daughters, Virginia (Kevin) Claborn of Lawton, Oklahoma and Becky (Philip) Porsch of Bucklin; five grandchildren, Chase (Danny) Claborn, Cody (Jessica) Claborn, Michael Beshirs, Shelbey Beshirs, and Matthew (Virginia) Beshirs; 14 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Leroy Sidebottom; sister-in-law, Patty O'neal; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Harold (Stella) Phillips, Jim (Linda) Phillips, Rick (Pat) Phillips, and Donny Phillips; four sisters, Juanita (Tommy) Boatright, Carol Thomson, Diane Sidebottom, and Marilyn Phillips, brother-in-law, Ed O'Neal; niece, Terry Phillips; and nephew, Chris Phillips.

Graveside service will be held at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 1:00 PM. with pastor Kirk Larson presiding. Military honors provided by KSARNG Military Honors and SWKS Veterans Funeral Honor Guard. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.  Memorials are suggested to Veterans Volunteer Services (for local veterans) in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
