Dodge City - Elia Mendez, 76, died May 15, 2024 at St. Catherine's Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on November 23, 1947 in Chihuahua, Mexico the daughter of Francisco Lopez and Cruz (Martinez) Lopez.

She enjoyed going to the casino and visiting with her friends and family. Mrs. Mendez worked in the school cafeterias for USD #443 for several years.

She is survived by her Daughter-in-law Alma Lopez of Commerce, California; as well as four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Jimmy Lopez and one brother.

Memorial graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
