Meade - Elizabeth (Bette) J. Zachman-Wilson-Thomas, 91, died March 24, 2014 at Lone Tree Retirement Center IN Meade. She was born on August 9, 1922 in Jetmore, the daughter of Byron L. and Martha Jane (Bonner) Glenn.

Bette graduated from Jetmore High School in 1940. She then attended one year at Sterling College before transferring to Fort Hays State Teachers College where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in education. In 1944, she married Oscar Zachman. He preceded her in death in 1958. Shortly after Oscar's death, Bette moved to Dodge City, where she taught at Wilroads Gardens School, Bell Center Township School, and then first grade at Lincoln Elementary School until her retirement. In 1962, she married John Wilson. He preceded her in death in 1991. Bette then married Walter Thomas. He preceded her in death in 1997.

She was a member of the Christ the King Lutheran Church of Dodge City. Bette was also involved in RSVP and enjoyed playing the piano for the Good Samaritan Center where she also served on the Board of Directors.

Bette is survived by a daughter, Glenda Patterson and husband Wade of Copeland; two sons, Claude Zachman and wife Paula of Spearville and Tom Zachman of Dodge City; two step-daughters, Sherry Casey and husband Lawrence of Hutchinson and Terry Knowles of Colby; one step-son, Doug Wilson of Menlo; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one nephew; one niece; and one niece-in-law. She is also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and five sisters.

Memorial service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Dodge City on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. Kent Groethe presiding. A private family burial will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Christ The King Lutheran Church or Lone Tree Retirement Center in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel of Montezuma.
