Dodge City - Ellis Wesley "Bob" Bailey, 92, went to be with the Lord on December 12, 2017 at the Kansas Soldiers Home, Ft. Dodge.  He was born on May 23, 1925 at Ft. Riley, the son of Clifford D. and Agnes M. (Piper) Bailey.

Ellis was a graduate of Canton High School in Canton.  He joined the U.S. Navy after graduating serving during World War II.  Bob was a meter reader for over 40 years with Kansas One Gas.  He married Marymaxine Cooper on December 16, 1961 at Meade. She preceded him in death on May 28, 1986. Ellis later married Betty A. Madden on November 21, 1987 at Dodge City. He was an avid golfer and scored three holes-in-one when he was able to play.  After he could not play anymore he always watched golf on TV.  Ellis loved his family and spending time with them. Most important to him was spending time with the Lord, which he did every day.

Bob is survived by his wife, Betty A. Bailey of Dodge City; a daughter, Marshan Pagent and husband Jeff of Meade; a son, Dennis Bailey of Lakeland, Florida; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Iverson of Emporia; three step-daughters, Gayla Sue Jaggers, Sandra Nicolet and husband Scott, and Marsha Madden. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clifford Bailey; and two step daughters, Francine Brehm and Marilee Hamilton.

Celebration of life will be held at the First Christian Church on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM.  Burial will be at 2:00 PM on Monday at the Fowler Cemetery in Fowler with military rites by Navy Military Honors.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from noon to 6:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church or Hospice of the Prairie both in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
