DODGE CITY - Elmer Thornbrugh, 81, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City. He was born on December 7, 1927 at Holly, Colorado the son of Ross and Ruby Thornbrugh.

Elmer served in the US Army during WWII. He was a longtime resident of Dodge City. Elmer was the caretaker at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Thornbrugh of Dodge City; two sons, Ross Thornbrugh of Toronto and John Thornbrugh of Lake Jackson, Texas; a daughter, Bonnie Sims of Dodge City; step-daughter, Linda Andrews of Thornton, Colorado; 12 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and five step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.

Graveside memorial service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Adelia Hooley presiding. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.
