Dodge City - Lucille Mardine Luckey, 86, died Saturday April 7, 2012 at Halsey Hall in Fort Dodge. She was born on December 19, 1925 in Garden City, the daughter of Bradley and Leona Carter Jennings.
She graduated from Dodge City High School, received her associate's degree from Dodge City Community College, a B.S. degree from St. Mary of the Plains College, and a master's degree from Kansas State University.
Lucille worked at the Ford County Court House, as a substitute teacher for USD 443, and as a third and fourth grade teacher at Northwest Elementary School. She served as secretary of Dodge City NEA and was on the boards of Dodge City Public Library and the Good Samaritan Center.
She founded and pastored The Apostolic Faith Pentecostal Church, Inc. for 57 years. She was a member of the Northwestern District Council, president of the Young People's Union for two terms, and a member of the License and credentials Committee. Pastor Luckey was baptized in Detroit, Michigan and was filled with the Holy Spirit in Leavenworth.
She married Theodore Luckey in 1946. He preceded her in death in 2008. They were the parents of three daughters. Survivors include a daughter Mignon Luckey, Dodge City; grandson Brodrick Jackson, Kansas City, Missouri; five great grandchildren and many nieces , nephews and cousins. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Bill; two sisters, Ila Mae and Marcille; and two daughters, Carol and Rochelle.
Funeral service will be held at Dodge City Church Of The Nazarene in Dodge City on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. with SFG Bishop Aletha Cushinberry of Topeka presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, April 13, 2012 from Noon to 8 P.M. with family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
