Dodge City - Emerson E. West, 71, died June 16, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction Colorado. He was born on April 16, 1945 in Dodge City, the son of Emerson C. and RoseMary (Williams) West.

Emerson graduated from Dodge City High School. He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1971. After his discharge, he returned to Dodge City. In 1976, he moved to Colorado. Emerson worked in hotel management.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City and a lifetime member of Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W. of Dodge City and the Disabled American Veterans.

Emerson is survived by his sister Linda Koch and husband Bud of Rio Hondo, Texas; one niece Kenda Primeaux and husband Dale; and one nephew, Derek Koch and wife Lynn. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A private service will take place at a later date. There is no visitation. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital or to the Shrine Hospital in care of Swaim Funeral Home - 1901 Sixth Ave - Dodge City, KS 67801.
