Obituary

Emily (Soza) Seacat, 80, died August 25, 2018 at Brookdale Assisted Living Center in Dodge City. She was born on January 5, 1938 in Dodge City, Ks the daughter of Cruz Soza and Jennie Sanchez.

She married William Dean "Suds" Seacat in Billings, MT on December 30, 1960. They spent all of their married lives in Dodge and raised 3 sons. Emily worked at multiple places around Dodge City. Her last being a paraprofessional for the USD 443 school district, helping young children with English as a second language. She gave her time volunteering with Hospice. Emily loved a house full of family and grandchildren, along with cooking and baking as these were some of her favorite past times.

She is survived by her 3 sons Derek Seacat and wife Sheila of Dodge City, Troy Seacat and wife Liz of Lyons, CO and Travis Seacat and wife Angi of Phoenix, AZ.  Four grandchildren, who were the light of her life  - Drs. Brian Seacat and wife Courtney Seacat of Oklahoma City; Garret Seacat and wife Lora of Emporia and Kennedy Seacat of Phoenix, AZ. One great granddaughter – Audra Seacat of Emporia. Brothers – Paul Soza of Los Angeles, CA, Bobby Soza of Dodge City, Joe Soza of Lawrence; Sisters – Connie Soza of Dodge City, Flora Leon of Derby, BettyMartinez of Dodge City and Grace Carmona of Dodge City.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dean, brothers Mike and Victor Soza, sister Trudy Trent; grandson Matthew and her best friend and companion for many years – her furry friend Truman Mitchell.

Funeral mass will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, September 21 st at 10am with the Rev. Aneesh Parappanattu presiding. Inurnment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Brookdale Assisted Living Center in care of the funeral home.
