Obituary

Montezuma - On December 16, 1934, Paul Emory Ensz was born to Abraham A. and Anna Lowen Ensz on the farm near Inman. He quietly slipped away to be with Jesus early Sunday morning, April 27, 2014, due to complications from Parkinson's.

Emory was baptized on May 3, 1949, into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, by Minister Harry Wenger, at Inman. He had an unwavering faith and belief in God that carried him through the challenges of life. Prayer was a vital part of his spiritual life, mentioning the names of each of his children and grandchildren daily.

Emory received his 8 years of education at Clark School, in McPherson County. He enjoyed two years of service in Baltimore, Maryland. On March 2, 1958, Emory married me, Juanita Mae Koehn, at Copeland. We enjoyed 56 adventurous years together. Our home was blessed with 4 sons.  After marriage, we lived two years in Inman. Then we spent 5 years in the Copeland area. But adventure and the north were calling. Pincher Creek became our home for the next 10 years, expanding our circle of friends far and wide. But the ride was not over yet! Texline was our next move. Coming to the cattle and corn growing community, he soon had met the neighbors and was putting down roots. Yet the mountains kept calling. Once again he was on horseback, enjoying the great outdoors, summering the cows in Colorado. He enjoyed camping, cooking, and coffee with friends around the fire. The grandchildren will have lasting memories of hiking with grandpa as he rode horse and they walked.

The last one and half years were spent at Bethel Home where he received excellent care. He really enjoyed his visits with all the nurses and administration, introducing them to us as a family.

Daddy met the world with a warm heart and ready handshake, always interested in each one's life. But now we must go on without him, striving to live the legacy he has left behind.

Emory left behind me, his wife, Juanita, our 4 sons, Richard and Marci, Texline, Texas, Wes and Anna, Center, Colorado, Jerry and Debby, Copeland, and Carl and Joy, Texline, Texas; 17 grandchildren and twos isters in law, Lenora Ensz and Edith Ensz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, and daughter-in-law Michele.

Funeral service will be held at Texline Mennonite Church in Texline, Texas on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Texline Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be at Bethel Home on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Bethel Home in care of the funeral home. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
