Dodge City - Ervin H. McComas, 89, died Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains at Dodge City. He was born on March 17, 1919 in Ford County, Kansas the son of Francis Marion and Sarah Jenney Bellle (Mabbitt) McComas. He grew up on the family farm 12 miles north of Dodge City. Mr. McComas was a lifetime Ford Couny resident and was a farmer/stockman and also worked as an equipment operator for the Ford County Highway Department. On September 16, 1946 he married Elsie Birzer in Dodge City. She survives.

He was a member of First Christian Church and a member of Senior Friends both of Dodge City.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie McComas of Dodge City, and 5 nieces.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 10:30 AM with Mr. Larry Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, February 6, 2009 from noon to 8:00 PM.
