Dodge City - Esmeralda Briseno Alvarado, 58, died February 27, 2012 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita . She was born on November 16, 1953 in Dodge City, the daughter of Telesforo and Pilar (Briseno) Alvarado .

She worked for the District Court as a court clerk for twenty three years and later worked for Bright Beginnings as a family advocate for eight years. Esmeralda was working as a receptionist for USD #443 at the time of her death. She loved to read and spend time with her family and friends. She was a loving mother and nana.

Esmeralda was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the GI Forum all of Dodge City.

Miss Alvarado is survived by one daughter, Emilia DeLeon of Dodge City; two sons, Erik DeLeon and Augrelio DeLeon both of Dodge City and six grandchildren.

Vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of
Guadalupe in Dodge City. Funeral mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ted Stoecklein presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Public visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. The family will receive friends all day Thursday at 906 Ave. J in Dodge City. Memorials are suggested to Esmeralda Alvarado Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
