Dodge City - Ethel Irene Massey, 90, passed away March 28, 2024 at Trinity Manor in Dodge City, Kansas. She was born on June 1, 1933 to Daniel and Julia (Ratzlaff) Ochs in rural Finney County, Kansas.
She graduated from Dodge City High School, attended Dodge City Community College, Garden City Community College and took courses through Kansas State University. She worked in accounting until retiring.
Roger Bryan and Ethel were married December 2, 1950. They had three children; Suzan, Michael and Valorie. Roger preceded her in death September 15, 1966. Ethel married Ralph Nathan Massey December 20, 1969. They continued to raise their family and moved to several communities in Kansas following Nate's career. Upon retirement they settled in Montezuma, Kansas to be close to family and friends. During their retirement they enjoyed traveling seeing most of the continental United States, Canada, Australia and Western Europe. Nate preceded her in death August 14, 2012.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzan (Arlo) Ratzlaff, Liberal, KS; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Bryan, Wichita, KS; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Bryan; daughter, Valorie Bryan; stepson, Michael Massey; stepdaughter, Debra Massey Purcell; sisters, Lorene Bradfield, Bertha Snyder, Betty Stranghoner Bass; and brother, Robert Ochs.
