Eula Lenore Chipman, 94, died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Good Samaritan Center in Dodge City. She was born on March 31, 1915 on a farm north of Fowler, the daughter of J. B. and Maud E. (Pavey) Eccleston.
She married William Howard Chipman in 1937. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1962. She worked as a homemaker until her husband's death in 1962 at which time she took over the family farms. She alone finished raising their two children.
She was a member of First Christian Church of Dodge City. Dodge City Area Association for Retarded Persons, H.D.U. of Dodge City, and was as assistant leader of Girl Scouts.
Eula is survived by one daughter, Eilene Chipman of Dodge City; one son, Howard Chipman of Dodge City; and two brothers, Thurman Eccleston of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Aaron Eccleston of Fowler. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Nichols and Wilma Meyer, and three brothers, Oville, Edwin, and Vivian Eccleston.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Friday, October 9, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Mr. Larry Williams presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, October 8, 2009 from noon to 8:00 PM and on Friday, October 9, 2009 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
