Eva "Jean" (Toynton) Allingham, 82, died Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She was born on March 5, 1927 at Hiatteville the daughter of Earl and Dorothy (Akin) Toynton.
She married Thomas W. Allingham on October 8, 1947 in Garden City. They lived in Raton, New Mexico and then moved to Dodge City in 1965. They have resided in Fort Dodge for several years. She retired from the State of Kansas as a counselor at the job service centers in Dodge City and Garden City. Mrs. Allingham did extensive traveling in many areas of the world.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star and V.F.W. Auxillary all of Dodge City.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas W. Allingham of Fort Dodge; one daughter, Dana Brinnich and husband Hans of Littleton, Colo.; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra J. McGinley; three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will be held at Fort Dodge Chapel on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Vernon Bogart presiding. Burial will follow at Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Monday, December 14, 2009 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
