Eva A. Torline, 89, died on Friday, January 9, 2009 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. She was born on December 2, 1919 at Wheatland Township in Ford County, KS the daughter of Fred A. and Frances (Heeke) Torline.
Eva attended schools in Windthorst and graduated from Windthorst High School. She lived her entire life in Ford County and was active in farming. Miss Torline moved to Dodge City in 1998. She was very active in community functions and participated in the Passion Play. Eva enjoyed quilting, crocheting and made handcrafted rosary beads.
She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Windthorst, Altar Society, Windthorst Alumni Associatiion and Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W. Auxillary of Dodge City.
Survivors include one brother, Richard Torline of Dodge City; one sister, Sister M. Modesta of Wichita; seven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and one sister.
Vigil service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Monday, January 12, 2009 at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Windthorst on Tuesday January 13, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ted Skalsky and Rev. Robert Schremmer presiding. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Windthorst. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Monday, January 12, 2009 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
