Evelyn M. Harris, 73, died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains at Dodge City, KS. She was born on December 31, 1935 at Edwards County, KS the daughter of Mathias and Okla (Kreie) Lauber.

She was raised in the Edwards County area and attended and graduated from Kinsley High School. She married Richard "Dick" Harris on October 10, 1953 in Dodge City, Kansas, he preceded her in death on November 2, 1999. Mrs. Harris was the manager of the Peter Pan and Sweet Brier stores. She also worked in the circulation department at the High Plains Journal.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City, Dodge City Moose Lodge # 1187, Ladies Auxiliary of theDodge City American Legion Post # 47.

Survivors include three sons Doug Harris of Dodge City, Mitch Harris of Hutchinson, Kansas, Scott Harris of Morrisville, Pa. and one daughterDeanna Rouse of Dodge City.
She also survived by a sister Carolyn Herrell of Salida, Colo.and 10 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Clinton, Lester, and one sister Delores.

Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church of Dodge City on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Mr. Phil Scott and Mr. Doug Harris presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City, KS. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to American Cancer Society or the First Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
