Obituary

Our dear mother, Florence Frank Yost, was born on December 14, 1926 in rural Haskell County, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Frank. She quietly departed this life on January 7, 2021 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, reaching the age of 94 years.

Mom was the second child of a family of seven. Basic schooling was at West Banner School in Haskell County. Her childhood was filled with farm work, household chores, and farm past times. Helping with the family finances, she worked for the neighbors. In her youth years, she helped with the cooking at the Tucumcari, New Mexico mission. As a young teenager, she answered the call of God and joyfully served Him all her life.

Arlin Yost won her heart and they were married on June 12, 1949, enjoying 70 years of marriage. Five children were born to this happy union. They began married life during wheat harvest in a rented house on the local Joe Riley place. While raising her family, mom milked cows, had a big garden, and raised chickens. Harvest was special time and she supported Dad many years by hauling grain to the local elevators. Later, they built the house on the farm where son Daymon and Marilyn now live.

Mom loved life and was a valiant fighter to the end. She pursued life with a vigor of which her children are in awe! Hobbies were a therapeutic part of her life, including ceramics, candle making, wood working, pottery, and quilts. She was happiest when she was kneading dough with her hands. In their retirement years, they enjoyed traveling by bus across the US and also a trip to foreign countries. Precious time was spent in Arizona at the child care mission.

Being able to adapt, she had an open mind to the changing world around her. Mother believed in being prompt in all things and friendliness was a big part of her character. Friends of all ages, cultures, and interests enjoyed her company.

Treasuring her memory are her children: Daymon and Marilyn Yost, Sublette, Daylen and Cheryl Yost, Copeland, Londa and Howard Koehn, Montezuma, Becky and Kent Nichols, Gentry, Arkansas, and Jan and Lonnie Nichols, Copeland; two sisters, Mary Lou Doris, Dodge City and Jennie and Darrell Wiswell, Shell Knob, Missouri; brother, Paul and Virginia Frank, Montezuma; brother-in-law, Lawrence Withers, Copeland; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; her husband's family of six sisters-in-law and one spouse, Dorothy Yost, Montezuma, Orreda Yost, Livingston, California, Jaletta Yost, Brooksville, Mississippi, Inez Yost, Iroquois, South Dakota, Wilda Yost, Ulysses, and Priscilla and LeDon Harlow, Satanta.
