FLOYD CECIL BUTZ

Fort Dodge - Floyd Cecil Butz, 84, died July 26, 2012 at Western Plains Regional Hospital, Dodge City. He was born on August 16, 1927 in Versailles, Missouri, the son of Fred and Ida May (Yoder) Butz. He was a long time resident of Dodge City.

Floyd was a graduate of Conway Springs High School, Bethel College and obtained his Masters Degree in Education. Floyd married Shirley Jane (Nachtigal) Butz, September 12, 1957. Floyd was a teacher and coach in Solomon, Grainfield, and Johnson, Kansas. They later moved to Dodge City in the mid 1960's.

Floyd was a member of the First Missionary Church in Dodge City. He was a trustee for many years always willing to help with any project that may need done. He was a devoted Christian who faithfully served his Lord.

He is survived by two sons; Randy Butz and wife Sheri of Emporia and Doug Butz and wife Melissa of McKinney, Texas; one daughter Jennifer Abel and husband Jim of Dodge City; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Howard and his wife Shirley.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday July 30th at the First Missionary Church, Dodge City, Kansas, with Rev. Jeff Turner and Rev. James Hossler presiding. There will be no family visitation scheduled.The family suggests memorials be made to the First Missionary Church, in care of Swaim Funeral Home.
