IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances Y.
Blea
September 5, 1924 – January 5, 2019
DODGE CITY - Frances Y. Blea, 94, died on January 5, 2019 at the Kansas Soldiers Home, Ft Dodge. Frances was born September 5, 1924 in Minnesota. She and her mother and siblings moved to Kansas where she remained in Dodge City for the remainder of her life.
Frances was a house wife and took cleanliness and housekeeping to the next level. She loved yard work and her flowers. She did give new meaning to not letting the grass grow under her feet. She continued to tend her yard and so forth well into her 90's. She claimed to not like cooking, however her passion was being outdoors and doing her yard work.
She and her husband Manuel Blea, Sr. were married for seventy years and he preceded her in death in November of 2017. They had 5 children: Manuel Jr. of Ft Dodge, Juanita Sanchez (husband Jerry) of Dodge City, Danny Blea (wife Sharon) of Manhattan, and Tyrone Blea, (Kevin) of Kansas City, Missouri. Veronica Eberle (husband Terry) of Alpine, California, preceded her parents in death. Between all of her children, she had nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Of her ten siblings, five have preceded her in death.
Frances was a loving mother, wife and sister. There was nothing more important to her than family. She was a loyal person of great integrity, who in a straight forward manner lived what she believed. We will miss her presence going forward, as one of the matriarchs of our family. Both Manuel and Frances were members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral.
A memorial mass will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 19, 2019. The rosary will be held at the Cathedral as well, in the small chapel at 7:30 PM on Friday, January 18, 2019. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
