DODGE CITY- Frances J. Brokar, 96, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home, Dodge City. She was born on October 12, 1913 at Spearville, the daughter of Vandie and Jesse Mary (Oakes) Richie.
Frances married Paul Levin. She later married Virgil Brokar. She was employed for many years in food service with U.S.D. # 443, Dodge City, Kansas. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and quilting, and also enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
She was a member of Christ The King Lutheran Church , and Girls Nite Out Bowling League, both of Dodge City.
She is survived by one son, Robert Levin and wife Tomi, Oxnard, California; four daughters, Carol Penka and husband Butch, Dodge City, Pat Meier and husband Tom, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Nita Hoover, Minneola and Diana Traylor, Hutchinson. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, thirty five great grandchildren, and thirty one great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Marie Fisher, two brothers, three sisters, one granddaughter, and one great grandson.
Funeral service will be held at Christ The King Lutheran Church, Dodge City, on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Kent Groethe presiding. Burial will follow at Silent Land Cemetery, Spearville. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, October 29, 2009 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
