Frances Marie Koenke

Dodge City - Frances Marie Koenke, 89, died May 29, 2017 at her residence in Dodge City.  She was born on December 2, 1927 at Winfield, Kansas the daughter of Wallace E. Pierce and Neva L. (Shingloff) Pierce.

She married Kenneth Leroy Koenke on September 21, 1947 in Arkansas City, Kansas. She was the bookkeeper for her family business until her retirement. After retirement, she and her husband spent many years traveling with friends and family and visiting their children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with and supporting her children and grandchildren in whatever they pursued.

For many years, Frances was an active member of ESA chapter Alpha Alpha culminating in President of her chapter from 65-66, before becoming inactive to spend more time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, sister Betty (Pierce) Cox, and 1 great great grandson.

Frances is survived by her children, Marsha Marks and husband John of West Valley City, Utah, and Richard Koenke and wife Stephanie of Dodge City; 7 grandchildren, John J. Marks and wife Terri of West Valley City, Utah, Amanda Schindler and husband Mark of West Valley City, Utah, Josh Marks and wife Angela of West Valley City, Utah, Megan Evans of West Valley City, Utah, Kyle Koenke and wife Jona of Chandler, Arizona, Kelly Koenke and wife Imelda of Hays, and Kevin Koenke and wife Rebecca of Peyton, Colorado; 17 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and her longtime caregiver and companion Viva Hurst.

Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 10:00 AM.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Monday June 12, 2017 from 9:00-10:00AM.  Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
