DODGE CITY- Frank T. Sanchez, 93, died Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains at Dodge City. He was born on October 2, 1917 at Dodge City, the son of Soledad and Florentina (Tovar) Sanchez. Our dad was proud to be an Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad employee, as was his father. He started at a very young age as a bell boy at the Fred Harvey House. On October 18, 1936 he married Marcelina Padilla. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2006. He worked at various departments of the railroad and many years at the "round house", where he maintained the trains. Frank was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, starting at the Mexican Village, and later was an usher for the church when it moved to Avenue J. Frank and his wife started the luncheon plan "Fuse Program" - Friends United to Serve the Elderly, and they served for many years at this. He was an avid collector. Collecting was his destiny; belt buckles, books and anything involving railroad history. This was a life that was lived doing the best that he could for his family. He will be missed by all.
