DODGE CITY - Frank M. Thomas, 76, died March 2, 2012 at his home in Dodge City. He was born on November 5, 1935 at Dodge City the son of Albert R. and Edna A. (House) Thomas.
Frank grew up in Dodge City and was a 1954 graduate of Dodge City High School. After high school he served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Western Beverage as a route driver and also worked in the warehouse. Frank was also a brakeman for the Santa Fe Railroad. After retiring he was a driver for Arrowhead West. He loved spending time with his wife, family and friends. On June 29, 1968 he married Marlene Fontenelle at Dodge City.
Frank is survived by his wife, Marlene Thomas of Dodge City; two sons, Ben Thomas of Springfield, Ohio and Steven Fontenelle of Dodge City; six grandchildren, Adam, Abby, Krissie, Danielle, Matthew, and Andi; two nephews, Mark Thomas of Dodge City and Don Thomas of Beloit; and a niece Pat Abercrombie of Beloit. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles R. Thomas and Walter A. Thomas; and two sons, Phillip W. Thomas and Gerald K. Thomas.
Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
