Spearville - Fred Bernard Heiland died peacefully June 10, 2024 at the Paradise Valley Ranch, Spearville, Kansas. Fred was born July 7, 1938 at Windthorst, Kansas son of Fred and Ivra Heiland.
After graduating High School he moved to Denver, Colorado and worked for Beechcraft, Neo Tech Oil Compay and later as a custodian at Crestview Intermediate School in Castle Rock, Colorado.
Later he married Juanita Sloan and helped raise four children, Cary Sloan, Joan Sloan, Curt Sloan and Kelly Politza. They divorced and later he married Stephanie(Sue) Swafford May 11 2002. Again he gained three children Stephen Schnoebelen, Libby (Doug) Cossey and Robert Schnoebelen.
Survivors include wife Sue Heiland, Sister Judy (Bob) Konrade and special nephew Brian Heiland and grandchild Shelly Poyner, Castle Rock, Colorado. He was very close to his niece Marian and husband Mike Akers and friends Gary and Amy Stoecker who helped him with anything he may need. He is also survived by his grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Emogene Stevens, Monica Carmichael, Mary Martinez and brothers, Wilfred "Bill" Heiland, Norbert Heiland, Jerry Heiland, Tony Heiland, Bernard Heiland and Sylvester (Ves) Heiland.
Fred loved animals, his two dogs Dixie and Elsie and at one time 25 cats and a few coons and the outdoors and living by Pointed Rocks at the Paradise Valley Ranch located in Hodgeman County. He was also attached to his three horses that were on the farm. His family always teased him that he would be a rich man if he didn't feed all those cats, coons, turkeys and anything else that may have wandered into the yard.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on June 14, 2024 at Holy Cross Cemetery, Windthorst. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the Needy Pet Fund, c/o Jetmore Veterinary Service or Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
