WICHITA - Gabriel L. "Kool G" Herrera, Jr, 49, died October 10, 2011 at Via Christie St. Francis Campus, Wichita. He was born on October 15, 1961 at Dodge City the son of Gabriel and Margaret (Sanchez) Herrera.

Gabe was born and raised in Dodge City and attended Dodge City schools. He was an auto detailer for Lopp Motors, Tommie's Pre-Owned Outlet and most recently Gorgeous Motors of Wichita. Gabriel moved to Wichita in 2008 and retired in 2009 due to his health. He enjoyed working as a DJ on the weekends where he was known as "Kool G".

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Dodge City.

Gabriel is survived by two brothers, Martin and Wayne Herrera both of Wichita; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joseph Herrera.

Vigil Service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Sunday, October 16, 2011 from noon to 7:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Gabriel Herrera Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
