Lakin - Garth McDonald, 27, of Lakin died Sunday, March 13, 2022, during a wonderful weekend in Wichita with his fiancé, Marissa. He was born in Garden City on May 4, 1994 to Janene Legg and Ted McDonald.
Garth grew up in the Kalvesta/Garden City/Cimarron area. He loved playing his video games and rooting for the Green Bay Packers and the Texas Longhorns. (HOOK 'EM HORNS!!) He graduated from Ingalls High School in Ingalls. In March 2019, Garth met Marissa, the love of his life, in Dodge City. They were planning to be united in marriage this upcoming September. Garth enjoyed spending any time he could making memories with friends and family.
Garth is survived by his fiancé, Marissa Terrian of the home; mother, Janene Legg of Lakin; father, Ted McDonald (Tina) of Forth Worth, Texas; two sisters, Melynda McDonald of Yazoo City, Mississippi and Miranda Harris of Houston, Texas; nephew, Bradley of Yazoo City, Mississippi; niece, Vanessa of Houston, Texas; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceeded in death by his grandparents, George and Marlene Legg and George and Sandy McDonald.
Funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Cimarron on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Richard Deimund presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron. Lunch will be served at the church following the burial. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Cimarron on Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Garth McDonald Memorial Fund in care of Swaim Funeral Home.
