Scott City – Geneva M. (Torrez) Wright, 74, died June 23, 2023 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. She was born on January 12, 1949 at the Mexican Village of Dodge City, the daughter of Epimenio Torrez and Susana (Garcia) Torrez.

Mrs. Wright enjoyed dancing, fishing and spending time with her family in her spare time. She also worked as a cook for several restaurants in the area. She married Gary Wright on April 27, 2018 in Garden City, he survives. Mrs. Wright also loved all animals and especially her beloved dog Charlie.

She is survived by her husband Gary of the home; two sons Travis Lauber and wife Cruz of Garden City; Sean Torrez and wife Nerida of Dodge City; one step daughter Samantha Sharp and husband Zach of Scott City; two step sons Adam Wright of Palm Springs, California; Preston Wright of Scott City as well as two granddaughters Erica and Carla and great granddaughter Iridessa and two great grandsons Jahmari and Dezmend as well as ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother Manuel Torrez and wife Corrine of Jetmore and two sisters Rita S. Esparza and husband Rogelio and Corina J. Torrez-Castillo of Dodge City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant son Lester Lauber, one infant daughter Geneva Lauber and a niece, Anisa S. Torrez.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Saturday July 1, 2023 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Matthew Kumi presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 12:00PM to 7:00PM. Vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, June 30, 2023 at Swaim Funeral Chapel.
