GENEVA VALADEZ
Dodge City - Geneva Valadez, 82, died suddenly June 8, 2014 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born on March 14, 1932 at Lakin, Kansas, the daughter of Ignacio and Carmen (Valdez) Hernandez Sr.
She attended schools in Lakin, Kansas. On September 11, 1948, she married Mike Valadez at Kingman, Kansas. Geneva and Mike moved to Dodge City in April of 1954. Geneva worked for seventeen years as a nurse aide at both Trinity Hospital and Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She later worked for Taylor Food Mart and became manager spending twelve years there.
She was a member of the Victory Life Fellowship and the VFW Auxiliary both of Dodge City.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Valadez, Dodge City, two sons, Greg Valadez and Kris Valadez, both of Dodge City, seven daughters, Sally O'Connor and Mary Ellen Ericson, both of San Bernardino, California; Delores Campbell, Bernadine Valadez, and Connie Valadez, all of Dodge City, Alberta Anchondo, Plains, Barbara Wilson, Kenai, Alaska; two brothers, Tony Hernandez, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Ignacio Hernandez Jr., Pueblo, Colorado; three sisters, Mary Ann Gutierrez, Pueblo, Colorado; Carmen Cook and Carol Rairigh, both of Cheyenne, Wyoming; one aunt, Lucille Scott, Lakin, and many grandchildren, including Victoria, Leana, Alex, Manny, Jennifer, and Daniel Saldana, and many great grandchildren .She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Michael Gabriel Valadez Jr., and two grandsons, Tony Saldana, and Brandon Campbell
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Carl Nance presiding. Burial will follow at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in Ft. Dodge .Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from Noon to 8:00 PM with family receiving friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Swaim Funeral Home..
