GEORGANNE F. HISER

COPPELL, TEXAS - Georganne F. Hiser, 89, died Monday, November 3, 2014 at Specialty Select Hospital in Carrollton, Texas. She was born in Dodge City, Kansas on April 25, 1925, the daughter of Mae (Dooley) and George W. Fowler.

Georganne grew up in Wilroads Gardens, KS. and moved in with her Aunt Nell Dooley and attended high school in Dodge City. She graduated from Dodge City Senior High School. After graduation, she taught school in a small country school outside of Dodge City to earn money for college. She graduated from Kansas State University in 1947, with a degree in Industrial Chemistry. Georganne was Mortar Board Treasurer for 4 yrs. and active in various other campus organizations. In 1948 she married Arthur B. Hiser and they moved to Beaumont, Texas.

While Art was busy moving with his career, Georganne kept busy settling the family into each new community. She was a Master Gardener, donating her time to the K-State gardens and in Coppell to the Coppell Community Garden; a member of PEO sorority, and an avid K-State sports fan.

Georganne is survived by her two sons, Daniel A. Hiser, Coppell, TX and David W. Hiser, Houston, TX: two daughters, Jan L. Hiser, Coppell, TX and Jillian M. Hiser, Lakewood, CA; and grandchildren, Joshua M. Hiser and Jennifer M. Hiser. Georganne is also survived by her eldest sister Mariellen (Fowler) Rhoades. She has gone to join husband Art, her parents (Mae & George), as well as her two brothers, George Jr and Don and her sisters Evelyn and Colleen.

We will always remember Mom as a loving mother and wife, who had a love of gardening and a true eye for attaining beauty in her gardens. She enjoyed spending time with friends. She strove to instill her personal values for family, education, honesty and perseverance toward one's goals in life. We already feel her loss in our lives.

Funeral Service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with Dr. Phil Scott presiding. Burial will follow at Ford Cemetery in Ford. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the scholarship fund Georganne established at Kansas State University for a Kansas born student seeking a degree in Chemistry at KSU.
