Niles Wiseman, 76, passed away on August 1, 2026, at Via Christi St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita. He was born on June 2, 1950, in Dodge City, the son of George Henry and Mary Frances (Crane) Wiseman.

Niles was a lifetime resident of Dodge City, graduating from Dodge City High School in 1968. Growing up, he was very active in 4H and the one to beat showing livestock and excelling in the showmanship ring. It was here that he met the love of his life, Susan Bartlett. Niles continued to show cattle at the Kansas Livestock Show, winning many livestock and showmanship awards. Niles went on to further his education at Dodge City Community College and Fort Hays State University. He then returned to Dodge City to farm with his dad. It was at this time that he married Susan on October 16, 1971 at the Fowler Methodist Church.

Niles and Susan made their home in Dodge City and two children were born to this union, Amber and Matt. Niles farmed with his dad for 10 years and then took a job with the United States Postal Service in 1980, where he worked as a letter carrier for the next 33 years, retiring in 2013.

Niles touched the lives of many during his lifetime, whether it was on his mail route or through his many hobbies. He was known for his talented woodworking skills, creating many beautiful pieces for family and friends. He was an avid gardener and along with Sue, enjoyed landscaping their property. He enjoyed traveling, especially to the mountains of Colorado. His life was filled with laughter, love, and countless cherished moments with those lucky enough to know him. He had a sense of humor that will not be forgotten. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

Niles is survived by his wife Sue of Dodge City; two children, Amber Barham and husband Jeff of Farmington, Arkansas and Matt Wiseman and wife Fabiola of Wichita; five grandchildren, Jeron Barham, Hunter Barham and wife Siera, Haley Barham, Etienne Wiseman, and Eli Wiseman; three great grandchildren, Rain, Drew and Griffin; and several nieces and nephews. Niles is preceded in death by his parents; in-laws; and a sister, Sondra Wiseman.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Ability Point Foundation supporting individuals with special needs or the Ford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
