Obituary

Georgia Ruth Greenwood, 67, passed away Friday, February 5, 2010 at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City. She was born on March 5, 1942 in San Fernando, California, the firstborn daughter of George Holdsworth and Ruth Aileen (Bay) Greenwood.

The family moved to Santa Monica, Calfornia. At the age of three, Georgia moved with her parents to northeast Gray County near Cimarron where she grew up and took great pleasure in the freedoms of childhood and country living. Georgia attended school in Cimarron and was a 1960 graduate of Cimarron High School. She was also a graduate of Dodge City Community College and of Fort Hays State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught third grade in Meade and then moved to Hutchinson where she taught first and second grade. In 1977, Georgia moved back to Cimarron and began working at the Cimarron Insurance Company. She later became the bookkeeper and secretary for Ronald Burns Trucking Company and Troy Burns Trucking. Georgia loved her family and friends and they truly loved her. She had always been a source of strength, encouragement, comfort, and goodwill.

She was an active and faithful member of Cimarron Church of the Nazarene, where she found delight and contentment in the fellowship and service of our Lord.

Georgia is survived by three sisters, Joan Koehn of Cimarron, Brenda Eskam and husband Jerry of Altus, Oklahoma, and Karma Hance and husband Stephen of Bethany, Oklahoma; ten nieces and nephews, Jaylen, Jan, and Jeremy Koehn, Jeanine Feller and husband Dean, Jereana Woods and husband Ronald, Brandon Eskam and wife Lizette, Shaun Eskam and wife Ericka, Aaron Eskam and wife Julie Eskam, Sarahbeth and Mark Hance; 13 great nieces and nephews, Kevin Feller, Rachel, Shayna, Holly, Cody, and Logan Woods, Jackie Koehn, Asher, Addison, Sadie, Shiloh, Kailey, and Alea Eskam; and many other cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be held at theCimarron Church Of The Nazarene, Cimarron on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Randall S. Harrell presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Cimarron on Friday, February 12, 2010 from noon to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the Cimarron Church of the Nazarene, the Andy Owen Mission, or to KHYM Radio in care of the funeral home.
