Obituary

Georgia Belle Soldan, 87, of Smithton, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Bothwell Regional Health Center. She was born April 7, 1939, in Neosho, the daughter of the late George and Mary (Sewell) Simmons.

On June 15, 1956 in Salina, KS, she married Daniel Soldan who preceded her in death on October 24, 2003.

Georgia was a devoted member of Smithton Baptist Church, where her faith and friendships were an important part of her life. She cherished her family deeply.

She found great purpose in caring for others through her work as a caregiver. Georgia had a kind, nurturing spirit and was always attentive to the needs of those around her.

Survivors include two children, Daniel Soldan, Jr., of Smithton, and Dorothy Vaughn, of Eldon; two siblings, Ruby, of Florida, and Richard, of Kansas; three grandchildren, Matt Soldan, of Columbia, Cristy Goertz, of Aurora, CO, and Joe Hutchinson, of Eldon; and three great grandchildren, Benjamin, Gunner and Ainslee.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Heckart Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm. Graveside service and burial will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at the Ford Cemetery in Ford, KS. Memorial contributions are suggested to Smithton Baptist Church in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel.
