Dodge City - Georgina A. Martinez, 83, died July 2, 2015 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home, Dodge City. She was born on August 11, 1931 in Gray County, Kansas; the daughter of Jose and Maria (Cabretta) Ascencio.

Mrs. Martinez graduated from Ingalls High School. On February 3, 1951, she married Robert Martinez in Dodge City. She was a homemaker and also helped immigrants get legal citizenship.

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Dodge City, and the Boothill Iris Club.

Survivors include sons, Michael Martinez and wife Becky, Wichita, Jeff Martinez and wife Sherry, and Gerald Martinez all of Dodge City, a daughter, Marlene Harned and husband Scott, Apache Junction, Arizona, two sisters, Ruth Martinez, Copeland, and Gloria Graff, Silver City, New Mexico, 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and one expecting.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Martinez who died July 8, 2007, one son Robert Martinez and one granddaughter Caitlyn Harned.

Vigil Service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
