Geraldine Alice Dohrmann, 90, died October 4, 2011 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. She was born on October 12, 1920 in Bellefont, the daughter of Grant and Alice Margaret (Henning) Powers, Sr.
Geraldine was born and raised in Bellefont, graduating from Bucklin High School on May 19, 1935. She then entered into nurses training at St. Anthony's School of Nursing in Dodge City. She graduated on July 25, 1942. On April 26, 1942, Geraldine married Glenn Dohrmann in Dodge City. He survives. They made their home in Ensign where they raised their family. Geraldine worked at St. Anthony's Hospital, Southwest Clinic and Dodge City Medical Center in Dodge City. She was a caregiver for many people.
She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Dodge City.
In addition to her husband, Glenn, Geraldine is also survived by four children, Jacque Tyler and husband Jon of Yuma, Arizona, Mike Dohrmann and wife Chloe of Ensign, Pam Herrman and husband Kim of Wichita, and Craig Dohrmann and wife Greta of Dodge City; three sisters, Berniece Logan of O'Fallon, Missouri, Norma Ross of League City, Texas, and Gerva Powers of Kiowa; four brothers, Dr. Lavern Powers of Hutchinson, Grant Powers, Jr. of Spearville, Richard Powers of Grandview, Missouri, and Galen Powers of Sanford, North Carolina; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dennis Dohrmann on November 14, 2010; three brothers, Virgil, Clarence, and Norman; and one sister, Genevieve Cayton.
Funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Dodge City on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Randall Jahnke presiding. Burial will follow at Ensign Cemetery in Ensign. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Friday, October 7, 2011 from noon to 8:00 PM.
