Obituary

Montezuma-Our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Gertrude (Koehn) Regehr, was born December 18th, 1918, nine miles north of Copeland, to Jesse and Rachel (Jantz) Koehn. She passed away April 4, 2013 due to a stroke at Bethel Home in Montezuma, reaching the age of 94 years and 4 months.

Her childhood years were spent on the family farm where she had fond memories of milking and gathering eggs. She enjoyed her school days, attending West Banner School northwest of the home place.

At the age of 16, mother felt the call of the Lord and found peace with God. On May 23, 1934, she was baptized into The Church of God in Christ Mennonite by Minister Jacob Yost.

Mother moved to Winton California to seek employment and ended up working in a peach packing shed and an onion dehydrator. She met our Dad, Bernard Regehr, and they were married on October 14, 1940. Two children were born, Lanna Lee and Ronald Keith.

In 1954, they moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Mom loved the outdoors, fishing, huckleberry picking and gardening. Another child was born here, Mechelle Jolene. After living here ten years, they moved to Sheridan, Wyoming. True to her giving nature, her guest book proves just how hospitable and caring she was. They moved on to Washington, Idaho and Texas prior to arriving at Bethel Home in Montezuma on January 5th, 2008.

Mom lived a full life and will be greatly missed by her children, Lanna and husband Rick Reed of Wickenburg. Arizona, Ron and wife Mary Ann of Peoria, Illinois, and Mechelle and husband Bob Dirks of Grand View, Idaho, nine grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bernie, parents, sister Francis (Mrs. Noah Nichols), brothers Cleman and Leslie and grandson Branden Marc Regehr.

Funeral service will be held at Salem Mennonite Church on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Ministers Sam Unruh, Stan Smith, and Steve Unruh presiding. Burial will follow at Salem Mennonite Church Cemetery.
