Dodge City - Gilbert Gallegos, 33, died March 28, 2021 in rural Ford County due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.  He was born on November 5, 1987 in Dodge City, the son of Manuel and Beatriz (Chavez) Gallegos.

Gilbert's childhood was spent in Montezuma.  He attended Montezuma Elementary, South Gray Junior High, and South Gray High School, graduating with the class of 2006.  After graduation, Gilbert entered the workforce.  He worked for Pride Ag in Montezuma and most recently was working for MJE as a mechanic.   He was always willing to help out his family and friends with everything and anything.  Gilbert's passion was riding his motorcycle and spending time with his friends.  His smile and presence would always light up a room.  Gilbert's greatest joy came with his daughter, Alina. He'll always be loved by his family and treasured by his friends.

Gilbert is survived by his daughter, Alina Kay Rodriguez of Monahans, Texas; his parents, Manuel and Beatriz Gallegos of Montezuma; four brothers, Gerald Gallegos and wife Patricia of Montezuma; Jesus Manuel Gallegos and wife Karla of Franklin, Tennessee; Lorenzo Gallegos and wife Felicia of Dodge City; and Luis Gallegos of Wichita; five nieces, Kaedynce, Lyrik, Cora, Kalo, and Sahara Rose; and five nephews, Michael, Zach, Isaiah, Landon, and Gideon.

Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church in Dodge City on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Dusty Cookson presiding.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from noon to 7:00 PM.  A Rosary will be held following the visitation at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to the family in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com .
