Dodge City -Dr. Glen Mitchell, 82, died October 24, 2014 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Dodge City. He was born on September 18, 1932 in Montezuma, the son of Homer and Ada (Dodson) Mitchell.
Glen lived in Montezuma and attended elementary school there. The family then moved to Leoti where he graduated from high school. Glen went on to do his undergraduate work at Wichita State University and was then accepted into the Washington University Dental School in St. Louis. He owned Mitchell Denistry in Dodge City, retiring after 50 years in practice. Glen had a lifetime interest in music and art. He was an avid collector of antiques.
He was a member of the First Missionary Church of Dodge City where he was very active in the music ministry.
Dr. Mitchell is survived by one brother, Erwin Mitchell and wife Connie of Colby; one sister, Alpha Hawes of Crystal Lake, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Alton Mitchell.
Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jeff Turner presiding. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A private family inurnment will be at a later date in Leoti. Friends may sign the register book on Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 Pm at Swaim Funeral Home.
