Obituary

Montezuma - Eldon Glen Powell, 54, died November 7, 2021 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.  He was born on November 1, 1967 at El Paso, Texas, the son of Bob and Laura Powell.

In 1978, Glen moved to Montezuma with his mother.  He graduated from Montezuma High School in 1986 and from Central Christian College in McPherson in 1988 with an Associate's Degree in Automotive Mechanicals.  Glen went to work for Montezuma Manufacturing.  He started as a welder and later moved into design operations.  After Montezuma Manufacturing closed, Glen worked for Vince Koehn.  When a position opened at MJE in Montezuma, Glen went to work as a design draftsman.

On May 17, 2015, Glen was united in marriage to Caprice Blake. They enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren.  Glen also was an avid photographer.

Glen is survived by his children, Nicholas Powell, Victoria Powell, Cole Schaffer (Kaylia), and Madilyn Schaffer all of Montezuma; his father, Bob Powell of Cassville, Missouri; a brother, Bobby Powell and wife Cheryl of Exeter, Missouri; two sisters, Pat Cox and husband Roger of Norman, Oklahoma and Beverly Deeds and husband Bob of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and two grandsons, Wyatt and Eli Schaffer of Montezuma.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Caprice and his mother, Laura.

Shared services for Glen and Laura will be held at Morningside Community Church, Montezuma on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Tim Erickson presiding.  Burial will follow at Morningside Cemetery, Montezuma.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from noon to 8:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to the South Gray High School Art or Band program in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
