DODGE CITY - Glenda Lou Isaacs, 74, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the Family Health & Rehabilitation Center, Wichita. She was born on December 22, 1934 at Montezuma the daughter of Vernie Cornelle and Allie Maude (Bronson-Brown) Algrim.
Glenda was a graduate of Dodge City High School. She was a homemaker, helped her husband George on the farms he worked at, and was a cook at Dairy Queen for over 18 years. She was known as the "Dairy Queen Lady" when she was out and about in town. On May 28, 1955 she married George Edward Isaacs at Dodge City. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1982. Glenda loved to cook with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dodge City.
Glenda is survived by a son, Dennis Isaacs of Borger, Texas; three daughters, Deborah Isaacs of Dodge City, Daylean Pearce and husband Brent of Haysville and Dolores Resor and husband Henry Joseph of New London, Missouri; adopted twin grandsons, Richard & Robert Isaacs; sister, Phyllis Routon of Pratt; 15 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Orval Algrim and two sisters, Zola Thomas and Dixie Deis.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 1:30 PM with Dr. Gary Winget presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Sunday, October 25, 2009 from Noon to 6:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
