Montezuma - Glenn "Curly" L. Unruh, 84, died November 4, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Dodge City . He was born on October 26, 1930 in Montezuma, the son of Jacob and Bessie (Unruh) Unruh.
Curly was a lifetime resident of Montezuma. He graduated from Montezuma High School in 1948. On December 15, 1956, he married Joan Keith at Fort Dodge. Curly was a farmer and cattleman. In addition to farming, he was the custodian for the Montezuma School District for 12 years. He also served as the fire chief for the City of Montezuma. Curly enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and caring for his animals.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Montezuma and the Moose Lodge.
Curly is survived by his wife, Joan of Montezuma; one son, Les Unruh and wife Karen of Willard, Missouri; one daughter, Beverly Unruh of Hays; and one grandson, Clint Unruh of Willard, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beatrice Mae Unruh.
Funeral service will be held at Montezuma United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Jerry Odle presiding. Burial will follow at Morningside Cemetery in Montezuma. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Friday, November 7, 2014 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Montezuma United Methodist Church or to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in care of the funeral home.
