Cimarron - Glennys E. Chalkley, 90, died December 22, 2016, at The Shepherd's Center, Cimarron. She was born June 24, 1926 in rural Gray County to Pearl and Frances (Israel) Moore. She married Verne A. Chalkley on August 5, 1945 in Cimarron.
Glennys was a retired government employee and her passion was being a Mary Kay Cosmetics beauty consultant. She was a life time resident of Gray County and Cimarron. She was a member of the Cimarron United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Frances, her husband, Verne, her sisters, Gwendolyn Long and Gyra Miller.
Glennys is survived by her three sons and their spouses: Rodney and Judy Chalkley of Houston, TX; Kelvin Chalkley of Dodge City; and Bradley and Lisa Chalkley of Cimarron; four grandchildren: Dr. Jeffery Chalkley and wife Katherine of Houston, TX, Jayme Chalkley of Houston, TX, Mitch Chalkley and Madison Chalkley both of Cimarron; one sister Glatha Denton and husband Jack of Dodge City; and one brother-in-law Richard Long of Dodge City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at Cimarron United Methodist Church on Wednesday December 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Mike Keating presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Cimarron on Tuesday December 27, 2016 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Cimarron United Methodist Church or The Shepherd's Center in care of the funeral home.
