Obituary

Wichita - Glora I. Kimbrel, 87, died January 11, 2014 at Comfort Care Home Wichita, Kansas. She was born on November 25, 1926 at St. John ,Kansas the daughter of Levi E. and Pearle (Dixon) Odle .

She married Kenneth Kimbrel on October 23, 1944 in Ensign, he preceded her in death on December 31, 2000. Glora served as a Registered Nurse at Trinity Hospital and Dodge City Regional Medical Center. She loved music and was known for her singing talent. She directed the choir for over 40 years at Ensign United Methodist Church where she was a member. She loved animals and was often the recipient of birds fallen from nests, squirrels rescued from cats and once, even a frog to revive and nurture to health.

She was a member of the Ensign United Methodist Church of Ensign, and the Eastern Star of Dodge City.


She is survived by a son Kelly Kimbrel and wife Pam of Georgetown, Texas; two daughters Lark Anton and husband Greg of Wichita; Melody Kimbrel and husband Larry Nabours of Valley Falls, KS. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Kimbrel.


Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Melody Kimbrel presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimers Association in care of the funeral home.
