Obituary

Our dear mother and grandmother, Grace Estelle (Wenger) Diller, was born to Frank and Anna (Dyck) Wenger on August 22, 1928, in Goessel, Kansas.  She peacefully went to be with Jesus on November 19, 2020, at the age of 92 years.

Mother received her education at French School in rural Hesston, Kansas.  When she was 14 years old, she gave her heart to Jesus and was baptized into the Meridian congregation of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, on March 8, 1942, by her father.  She remained faithful to her commitment until death.

On May 22, 1950, she was joined in marriage to Jay D. Diller in Hesston.  In their early married years, they lived in Ithaca, Michigan, until they moved to Walnut Hill, Florida, in 1956.  Daddy passed away in 2001.  Mother decided to move to Montezuma to be close to her daughter, Linda.

Mother was a warm, friendly person and was very generous by nature.  She loved being a housewife and mother, making our home a happy place.  She had a full happy life, enjoying new recipes, flowers, and going fishing.  She also enjoyed volunteer work, working at the Atmore, Alabama, hospital and later at the Bethel Home, where she had an apartment..  She enjoyed singing and whistling while she worked her duties.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, two sons and one daughter: James Diller and wife Tammy of Fountain Run, Kentucky, Gary Diller and wife Linda of Walnut Hill, Florida, and Linda Unruh and husband Lester of Copeland, Kansas; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters: Ruth Johnson of Moundridge, Kansas and Edith Ensz of Montezuma, Kansas; one brother, Ervy Wenger of Pensacola, Florida; six half brothers and sisters: Verna Schmidt of Brooksville, Mississippi, Vesta Peters and husband Verle of Atmore, Alabama, John Wenger and wife Kathleen of Walnut Hill, Florida, Mary Ann Nikkel and husband Jay of Tuscola, Illinois, Martha Koehn and husband Allen of Bowersville, Georgia; and Glen Wenger and wife Kay of Faunsdale, Alabama; and step-brother, Maynard Peters and wife Vera of Stapleton, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and five brothers and sisters, Harry Wenger, Paul Wenger, Alice Miller, Elda Koehn, Josephine Jantz; and one stepsister, Alice Dyck.

Funeral service will be held at Walnut Hill Mennonite Church, Walnut Hill, Florida, on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 10:30 AM with Minister Mike  Koehn presiding. Burial will follow at the Walnut Hill Mennonite Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to Bethel Home in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel - PO Box 421 - Montezuma, Kansas 67867.
