Bucklin - Grant Powers Jr., 97, died May 18, 2025 at Hill Top House in Bucklin, Kansas. He was born on January 2, 1928 at the family farm north of Bucklin, Kansas the son of Grant and Alice (Henning) Powers.

He married Bonnie Gene Cobb on November 11, 1951 at the Presbyterian Church in Dodge City, she survives. This last November Grant and Bonnie celebrated their 73 wedding anniversary. He loved farming and ranching and was a very sociable person never meeting a stranger. Grant served on the Ford County Zoning Board as well as the Spearville District Hospital Board.

He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Farm Bureau Board, Ford County Zoning Committee, 4-H Fair Board, Amber Grazing of Hodgeman County, Pairs and Squares Square Dance Club, Ford County Executive Extension Board Member.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie of Bucklin, one daughter Sylvia Sellard and husband Rob of Bucklin, two sons Tim Powers of Dodge City, Steven Powers and wife Merrill of Spearville, two brothers Richard Powers of Grandview, Missouri and Galen Powers of Sanford, North Carolina and one sister Norma Ross of League City, Texas. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one son Dr. Tony Powers, four Sisters Geraldine Dohrmann, Geneive Cayton, Berniece Logan, Gerva Powers four brothers Virgil Powers, Dr. Laverne Powers, Clarence Powers and Norman Powers and one grandson Aaron Powers.

Graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery on Wednesday May 21, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Jerry Hodges presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Hill Top House or Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
