Obituary

Gregory (Greg) E. Patee, 70, died December 1, 2024 at St. Catherine Hospital, Dodge City. He was born April 15, 1954 in Dodge City, the son of Eugene L. and Betty J. (Newton) Patee.

Greg was a lifetime resident of Dodge City, graduating from Dodge City High School in 1972. On March 10, 1973, Greg married Carla Hill in Fowler.

At an early age, Greg worked with his family's construction company, Patee Construction. He then worked for Western Construction, SouthWest CaseWork on Specialty projects, Dodge City Community College as Director of Facilities/Operations, and Kroger/Dillons, Hutchinson, as a Facilities Technician. Greg was a talented carpenter and took great pride in the homes, businesses, and all projects that he worked on. He created beautiful custom furniture for his family. Proudly, Greg completed his General Contractor's license in 2011.

Greg had a great sense of humor and enjoyed pranking family members. He had great memories of hunting with family and friends, especially at Cedar Bluff. After retirement, Greg and Carla returned to his favorite place to camp and fish -- Cedar Bluff.

Greg is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carla; son, Aaron Patee and wife Miracle of Spearville; and seven grandchildren:  Taylor Clare (Rebecca), Dodge City; Brayden Clare (Lydia Sander), Dodge City; Kaylee Patee, Elijah Patee, Brian Patee, Ethen Patee and Zoii Patee, Spearville. He is also survived by sister-in-law Judy Hill, Dodge City; brother-in-law Richard Fincham, Meade; son-in-law Don Clare (Rachel Smith), Dodge City; and one sister Deborah Weilert, Oswego, IL. Greg was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother Rachel Walcott, his parents, brothers Kim Patee and Robert Patee, and daughter Jennifer Patee Clare.
