GUADALUPE "LUPE" LOPEZ

Dodge City - Guadalupe "Lupe" Lopez, 81, died February 17, 2012 at her residence in Dodge City. She was born on July 13, 1930 at Dodge City the daughter of Refugio and Leonarda (Muro) Carmona.

Lupe attended schools in Spearville and Offerle. In 1946 she moved to Dodge City with her family. She married Aurelio Lopez on March 4, 1957. From 1957 to 1965 they lived in Cimarron and Eastern Colorado area. Moved to Hugoton in 1971 and moved back to Dodge City in 1985.

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Dodge City.

Mrs. Lopez is survived by three sons, Greg Lopez of Dodge City, Robert Lopez of Dodge City, and Richard Lopez of Vista, California; one daughter, Eloise Lopez of Dodge City; one sister, Susie Martinez of Dodge City; one brother, Albert Carmona of Dodge City; five grandchildren, Michael, Barbara, and Daniel Archuleta, Elizabeth Lopez, and Holly Archuleta; and one great grandson, Izik Archuleta. Lupe was preceded in death by her husband on June 25, 1993 and one brother, Thomas Carmona.

Funeral mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
